Das FT47 eMeal Akkupack besteht - neben vier Stück LiIon-Akkus mit einer Kapazität von je 3500mAh - aus einem Battery Management System (BMS) mit integriertem Balancer.
LiIon-Akkus müssen sehr sorgfältig behandelt werden, da es bei falscher Handhabung im schlimmsten Fall zu einer Explosion kommen kann.
Um diese Extremsituation zu vermeiden, dürfen LiIon-Akkus nur mit einer Schutzschaltung ausgeliefert werden, einem sogenannten BMS.
Das FT47 eMeal-BMS ist ein Modul das zwischen zwei und zwei LiIon-Akkus der Baugröße 18650 verbaut werden kann.
Das BMS-Modul überwacht die Ladeanschluss-Spannung, den Lade-Strom, die Akkuspannung und die Temperaturen aller vier Akkus, den Entlade-Strom und einiges mehr.
Ein kleines Display aus fünf LED's zeigt den Zustand des Akku-Packs an. Zwei Taster dienen der einfachen Bedienung.
Über eine Schnittstelle (und einem speziellen Adapter) kann das Modul umfangreich programmiert werden.
Die Programmierungen gehen von der Einstellung der Parameter der Akkus, über Grenzen der Ladung und Entladung, bis hin zu Logbuch für Fehlerprotokolle und Lade-, Entladezyklen.
Hervorzuheben, ist die "Balancer"-Funktion des Moduls:
Werden LiIon-Akkus in Reihe geschaltet, muss ein "Balancer" dafür sorgen, das nicht eine Zelle überladen wird, während eine andere noch nicht voll geladen ist.
Trotz umfangreicher Überwachungen (auch die der "Balancer"-Funktion), wird der Akku - bei Nichtnutzung im Zielsystem (ausgeschaltet oder Stand-by) - nicht entladen oder gar tiefentladen (bei Konkurrenz-Produkten leider keine Seltenheit).
FT47 eMeal ist verfügbar als BMS / Balancer-Modul (bestückte und geprüfte Leiterplatte) (Option 2) oder als kompletter Akkupack (Akkus mit BMS-Modul) (Option 1).
